HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed that Vietnam and China prioritize cooperation to construct three critical railway routes connecting the two countries. This proposal was made during his meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing.

The meeting took place on June 27, as part of PM Chinh’s visit to China for the World Economic Forum in Dalian.

PM Chinh appreciated Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing’s participation in the Vietnam-China cooperation conference on transportation infrastructure development.

He emphasized the importance of the three proposed railway routes: Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong, Lang Son-Hanoi, and Mong Cai-Halong-Haiphong. He suggested that both nations should prioritize these projects to enhance connectivity.

Vice Premier Zhang agreed with PM Chinh’s views, noting that these railway routes would significantly enhance connections between Vietnam, Central Asia, and Europe via China. They would also facilitate trade between China and other ASEAN countries through Vietnam.

Upon completion, these railway lines are expected to reduce logistics costs, increase the competitiveness of products, and promote production and business activities in both Vietnam and China. This, in turn, will boost socio-economic growth for both nations, PM Chinh said.
