HCMC – Vietnam has completed the first conductor installation for the 500kV Lao Cai–Vinh Yen power transmission line.

The section from tower VT9 to VT16 is part of Package HH1 and was carried out by a consortium of Song Da Installation and Services JSC, PC1 Group JSC, and Dong Anh Steel Tower Manufacturing Company, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).

Package HH1 includes 51 towers, all located in Lao Cai Province. It was also the first package to complete foundation construction.

Do Quang Khai, deputy director of Electricity Power Projects Management Board No.1, said the completion of the first conductor installation represents an important achievement. It also boosts morale and serves as a motivation for other construction teams and contractors working along the line to stay on track.

The progress came despite several challenges. During the development of the VT9–VT16 section, project teams faced delays due to community concerns about the transportation of equipment through residential areas. In addition, rough terrain and adverse weather conditions hindered foundation construction, tower erection, and conductor installation.

The Lao Cai–Vinh Yen 500kV power line is part of Vietnam’s broader effort to enhance power transmission capacity in the northern region. The project is considered critical for ensuring grid reliability and meeting growing electricity demand.
