HCMC – The Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam held a dialogue in Hanoi on November 28, bringing together Vietnamese and Danish architects and experts to discuss strategies for urban green transition.
The event, titled “Dialogue on Greener Together – Urban Green Transition: From Denmark to Vietnam,” explored practical approaches and solutions for integrating green infrastructure and sustainable practices into urban planning. Case studies from successful green transitions in cities worldwide were highlighted, offering valuable lessons for Vietnam.
Speakers included Henriette Vamberg, managing director of Gehl’s Europe, Asia, and Australia; Cao Hoang Hai, operations director of enCity; and Nguyen Hoang Phuong, senior expert of Net Zero Vietnam.
A key takeaway from the event was that urban green transition is not just a trend but a necessity for combating climate change and building resilient, sustainable cities for future generations.
The national urban and rural system planning for 2021-2030, with a vision toward 2050, projects Vietnam’s urbanization rate to surpass 50% by 2030, highlighting the urgent need for an urban green transition.
“Vietnam and Denmark share a strong commitment to sustainable development under the framework of the green strategic partnership. We are honored to be Vietnam’s long-term friend and strong supporter of the country’s impressive social and economic growth,” said Mette Ekeroth, deputy head of mission at the Embassy of Denmark in Hanoi.
Ekeroth emphasized that the focus of cooperation should now shift to achieving greener and more sustainable development, balancing economic, social, and environmental security.
The event also featured the ‘Green Together’ exhibition, showcasing Danish green solutions in sectors such as energy, water management, the circular economy, and sustainable city planning. The exhibition will remain open to the public from November 28 to December 2.
