HCMC – Vietnam and India issued a joint statement on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s state visit to India from July 30 to August 1, said the Vietnam News Agency.
According to the joint statement, the two countries will step up cooperation in removing trade barriers to promote bilateral trade beyond the current annual level of US$15 billion.
The two sides will encourage exchanges and cooperation in digital infrastructure, space technology applications, renewable energy, and biotechnology.
Vietnam prioritizes investments from India in infrastructure, high technology, clean technology, information technology, innovation and startups, semiconductors, energy conservation and renewable energy.
Meanwhile, India will prioritize Vietnam’s investments in agriculture, agricultural processing, fisheries, wood crafting, bamboo and forestry products, travel and tourism, digital technology, electric vehicles, healthcare, and services.
Cooperation will also be promoted in oceanography, marine science, and the blue economy, enhancing capacity in these areas.
Regarding innovation, science, and technology, Vietnam and India aim to establish a framework to promote bilateral cooperation in financial innovation and digital payments.
Vietnam and India upgraded their bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016 when Indian PM Narendra Modi visited Vietnam.
