HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on ministries, sectors, and localities to accelerate efforts to ensure that Vietnam will have 3,000 kilometers of expressway within this year.
He today chaired the 19th meeting of the State Steering Committee for Transport Projects to review progress in the first half of the year, set priorities for the months ahead, and evaluate the “500-Day Emulation” campaign to build 3,000 kilometers of expressway.
Since the beginning of the year, the Government has directed and implemented multiple measures to promote infrastructure development, with the goal of completing an additional 1,000 kilometers to surpass 3,000 kilometers of expressways by 2025.
Other priorities include investing in 1,000 kilometers of coastal road; accelerating key projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, and seaports; and actively preparing for land clearance for the construction of the North-South high-speed railway and the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway.
With just five months remaining until December 31, 2025, time is limited, tasks are demanding, and expectations are high. He therefore urged ministries, sectors, and localities to step up efforts, resolve bottlenecks, and accelerate expressway construction to meet the goal.
Localities were asked to report on the status of site clearance and technical infrastructure relocation, along with any difficulties related to construction materials.
They were also expected to provide detailed updates on the progress of projects under their management, particularly those linked to the target of having 3,000 kilometers of expressway by 2025.
