HCMC – Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed launching direct flights between Chongqing, China, and major Vietnamese cities to strengthen travel and exchange, reported the Government news site (baochinhphu.vn).

At a meeting on November 8 with Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun, held on the sidelines of the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, Chinh called for deeper cooperation across sectors. He also requested quicker procedures for opening Vietnam’s consulate in Chongqing.

Chinh highlighted the potential for Vietnamese businesses to leverage the China-Europe rail network to increase exports and suggested expanding partnerships in tourism, culture, and education. He noted that both countries could benefit by tapping into their complementary trade structures to boost two-way trade.

Secretary Yuan responded positively, pledging to collaborate with Vietnamese agencies to facilitate these initiatives. He also expressed interest in joint projects in sectors like industrial production, new materials, clean energy, logistics, and tourism.

Earlier, Chinh attended a Vietnam-China business forum, where companies from both countries signed seven memoranda of understanding, covering areas such as transportation and supply chain management.
