HCMC – Vietnam’s State President To Lam arrived in Phnom Penh this afternoon, July 12, marking the start of his two-day state visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni.
This is President To Lam’s first visit to Cambodia since he took office on May 22.
During his visit from July 12 to 13, President To Lam is scheduled to meet with King Norodom Sihamoni, and hold talks with President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet.
President Lam’s visit to Cambodia is seen as a significant step in strengthening and deepening the relationship between the two nations, adhering to the principles of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-lasting sustainability.
Speaking with the media ahead of the visit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet affirmed that the trip aims to create new momentum for further developing Vietnam-Cambodia bilateral ties and to promote cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Mekong sub-regional cooperation mechanisms, and the United Nations.
