Vietnam records over 86,000 dengue cases since December

HCMC – Vietnam has recorded 86,253 dengue fever cases and 17 deaths nationwide since December 14, 2024, according to the Ministry of Health.

The number of infections rose 15% from the same period last year, when 74,828 cases and 11 deaths were reported.

In September, the country reported 21,152 new cases and six deaths. In Hanoi City, 336 cases were detected between September 26 and October 3 across 95 wards and communes, up 15 cases from the previous week. Communes with the highest numbers included Long Bien, Dan Hoa, Thanh Liet, Xuan Phuong, and Ha Dong. No deaths were reported in the capital city.

Since early 2025, Hanoi City has reported 2,568 cases, down 33% from the same period in 2024. Seventeen new clusters were identified last week, with 30 still active across the city.

The Health Ministry has urged local authorities to assess dengue risks and take immediate preventive measures to contain outbreaks. It also called for stronger monitoring and early detection in areas with existing or recurring clusters.
