Vietnam reports 11,575 new Covid-19 cases

HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 11,575 new Covid-19 cases, including 11,569 domestic infections in 43 cities and provinces and six imported cases this evening, August 26.

Binh Duong reported the biggest number of new infections with 4,868, followed by HCMC with 3,934, and other southern localities such as Dong Nai with 743, Long An with 449 and Tien Giang with 354.

Danang, An Giang, Khanh Hoa, Dong Thap and Kien Giang detected 112-144 new cases each. Other cities and provinces reported less than 100 new infections each.

The country has recorded 388,814 domestically transmitted Covid-19 cases in the fourth wave of the pandemic since April 27.

This afternoon, the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control confirmed 318 more Covid-19 deaths, taking the total to 9,667.

The new fatalities included 242 in HCMC, 46 in Binh Duong, nine in Tien Giang, and three each in Dong Thap, Khanh Hoa, Long An and Vinh Long. Seven other cities and provinces reported one or two new fatalities each.

Up to now, nearly 188,500 Covid-19 patients in the country have made a full recovery, including 18,567 people discharged from the hospital today.

To support residents affected by the pandemic, the General Department of State Reserves has issued Decision No. 521 to deliver over 15,350 tons of rice from the national rice reserve to HCMC and Long An Province, two southern localities that have been hit hard by Covid-19.

Particularly, HCMC will receive some 14,550 tons of rice, while Long An will get 807 tons.

The rice will be handed over to HCMC no later than September 10 so that it will be distributed to the needy as soon as possible.

The General Department of State Reserves has also called on other localities to provide HCMC with 410 sets of tents and 14 power generators to assist frontline forces engaging in Covid-19 infection prevention and control activities in the city.
