HCMC – In a September rice bidding round opened by Indonesia, Vietnam has secured two contracts totaling nearly 60,000 tons of rice.
Two Vietnamese companies, Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood 1) and King Green Company, participated in the tender. King Green Company successfully won bids for two lots at US$548 per ton.
This volume is modest compared to previous tenders, as Vietnam’s available rice stock for export has significantly decreased.
By August, Vietnam’s rice exports reached over 6.15 million tons, generating revenue of US$3.85 billion, a 5.8% increase in volume and a 22% rise in value versus the same period last year. The average export price was US$625 per ton, up by 15% year-on-year.
