HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday called for deeper collaboration between Brazil’s Embraer and Vietnamese partners to advance the country’s aviation industry, as he met with the aerospace giant’s President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto in Hanoi.
Neto is visiting Vietnam as part of the delegation accompanying Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his state visit.
Embraer, in which the Brazilian government holds a 51% stake, is one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers. The state-owned company employed around 24,000 people across 80 countries in 2024 and generated nearly $6.4 billion in revenue.
Chinh, recalling his meeting with Neto during a trip to Brazil in September 2023, expressed his hope for a stronger, more effective partnership with Embraer. He emphasized Vietnam’s growing aviation needs, noting that the sector plays a key role in unlocking new frontiers, including space exploration.
The prime minister invited Embraer to work with Vietnamese firms on manufacturing aviation equipment, technology transfer, workforce training, and technical support. He also proposed preferential aircraft pricing, the establishment of maintenance and service centers, and cooperation in sustainable aviation fuel development and emissions reduction.
He urged relevant agencies to fast-track procedures for launching these projects, positioning aviation as a key pillar of Vietnam-Brazil cooperation in the wake of Lula da Silva’s visit. The Vietnamese government, he added, remains committed to fostering a transparent and efficient investment environment for businesses.
Neto, for his part, reaffirmed Embraer’s interest in contributing to Vietnam’s aviation sector. He said the company welcomed opportunities to showcase its latest aircraft and services and had engaged in discussions with Vietnamese partners on potential collaborations in line with the prime minister’s proposals.
