HCMC – Vietnam signed investment and financing agreements on April 10 for the Ca Na liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant and a phase-one seaport project, with total capital of VND60 trillion.

More than VND57 trillion will be mobilized as direct investment for the power station while VND3 trillion in credit will be provided by the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) for developing infrastructure for the port.

The project involves a consortium of domestic firms and Singapore-based Sideros River, marking the first participation of a foreign investor in an LNG project in Vietnam under an international bidding process in the National Power Development Plan VIII, according to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

The Ca Na LNG power plant will have a capacity of 1,500 megawatts and is expected to supply around 9 billion kilowatt-hours annually to the national grid.

The project includes an LNG storage and regasification system with a capacity of 1-1.2 million tons per year and a storage tank of 220,000 cubic meters.

It will be developed on more than 139 hectares of land and water surface in Ca Na Commune, with commercial operations targeted before 2031.
