Vietnam to break ground and inaugurate 250 projects on August 19

HCMC – Around 250 projects and facilities will be inaugurated and get off the ground simultaneously on August 19 through hybrid events.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a directive requesting that the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies nationwide be organized in a solemn, effective, economical, and safe manner, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The events will link 80 virtual sites across the country, with direct connections established to all participating projects, with the central venue placed at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Hanoi.

Other major venues include the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and its approach roads in Hanoi, Gia Binh International Airport in Bac Ninh, a resettlement area in Dong Van Ward, Ninh Binh Province, Nghe An Oncology Hospital in Nghe An Province, and Hai Anh Wind Power Plant in Quang Tri Province.

In HCMC, the event will be organized at the Saigon Marina International Financial Center.

As of August 13, 34 provinces and cities had completed preparations for the groundbreaking and inauguration of 250 projects with a total investment of around VND1,280 trillion. The projects include 89 inaugurated facilities and 161 groundbreaking ones.

By sector, there are 59 transport infrastructure projects, 44 civil and urban projects, 57 industrial facilities, 36 technical infrastructure projects, and 22 social housing projects.

Of these, state-funded projects account for 129, with total capital of VND478 trillion, or 37% of the total investment. The remaining 121 projects are financed from other sources, totaling about VND802 trillion. In addition, five FDI projects will be implemented with a combined investment of VND54 trillion.
