HCMC – The Ministry of Construction has urged faster progress on several key projects and set timelines for the groundbreaking of multiple expressway developments, as part of efforts to enhance the country’s infrastructure network.
Several related project management units have been asked to promptly complete contractor and investor selection procedures in order to break ground on five projects that have already received investment approval.
The La Son-Hoa Lien, Dau Giay-Tan Phu, and My An-Cao Lanh projects are scheduled to break ground in May 2025.
The Ninh Cuong Bridge project, overseen by the Thang Long Project Management Unit, and the second phase of the national highway bridge program, managed by Project Management Unit 2, are scheduled to begin construction in June 2025.
The ministry also called on project developers to finalize approval procedures for the Cam Lo-La Son Expressway expansion within April 2025, and to propose special mechanisms and policies to enable groundbreaking in May.
Meanwhile, preparations for the expansion of the HCMC-Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway is expected to be completed in May, with construction scheduled to begin in early Q3/2025.
For the five sub-projects of the 2017–2020 phase of the North–South Expressway, including Mai Son-National Highway 45, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, project management units have been directed to begin procedures for procuring and installing intelligent traffic management systems, vehicle weight monitoring systems, and toll collection systems by April 15.
These tasks must be completed no later than October 31, 2025.
For the sub-projects under the 2021–2025 phase of the North–South Expressway, project management units and investors are required to complete the approval of designs, bidding documents, and the issuance of bidding invitations for equipment supply and installation packages by the end of May.
Contractor selection, contract signing, and groundbreaking must be completed in June, with final completion no later than October 31, 2025.
