HCMC – Bilateral trade between Vietnam and the U.S. exceeded US$100 billion in the first nine months of 2024, showed data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Vietnam’s exports to the U.S. in January-September rose by 27.4% year-on-year to US$89.4 billion, accounting for 29.8% of the country’s total export volume.
This surge in trade is driven by growing U.S. consumer demand for wooden products, seafood and textiles. Vietnam also imported US$10.9 billion worth of goods from the U.S., a 6.2% rise, bringing the total bilateral trade volume to US$100.3 billion.
The Vietnam Trade Office in the U.S. highlighted that the strengthening cooperation between the two countries has been a key factor in this growth. The relationship evolved from a comprehensive partnership established in 2013 to a strategic comprehensive partnership in 2023.
Vietnam’s improvements in product quality and responsiveness to market trends have boosted the popularity of its goods in the U.S. Global supply chain shifts and changes in investment flows have further facilitated the entry of Vietnamese products into the American market.
