HCMC – Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are working toward finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in this first quarter, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son said.

During a meeting at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai on February 11, Son and UAE Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri discussed the ratification process and the importance of raising awareness among businesses about the agreement’s benefits.

Vietnam is seeking UAE investment in trade, infrastructure, and technology. Son highlighted Vietnam’s economic progress and called for stronger cooperation. In response, Al Marri revealed that the UAE is planning a major investment conference in Vietnam this year to attract global corporations.

Vietnam also aims to establish financial centers in HCMC and Danang, along with free trade zones in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Haiphong. Son requested UAE support in policy formulation to make Vietnam a more attractive destination for international investors.

Both sides also agreed to convene the sixth session of the Vietnam-UAE Intergovernmental Committee and the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Economic and Trade Cooperation in 2025.
