HCMC – Vietnam has asked China to manage water discharges from hydropower dams in the upper reaches of the Red River in a way that helps ease flooding in northern Vietnam.
On September 9, the Foreign Ministry sent a request to China, asking for close cooperation in managing floodwaters and dealing with the damage caused by typhoon Yagi.
China has confirmed that the two hydroelectric plants in the upper reaches of the Red River have paused operations.
Vietnamese representatives in China will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with local authorities to get updated on flood conditions.
