HCMC – Vietnam welcomed close to 14 million international visitors between January and August of 2025, up 22% year-on-year, as favorable visa policies and tourism promotions fueled strong growth.

August foreign arrivals reached 1.68 million, the highest ever for the month and up 8% from July, showed official data.

China remained the top source market with more than 410,000 visitors, or a quarter of August’s total, followed by South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and the United States.

Russia posted the fastest growth, tripling year-on-year to over 62,500 arrivals. Other markets including the Philippines and India also recorded solid increases.

Vietnam aims to attract 25 million foreign visitors this year, after a record 2.1 million arrivals in March. To hit the target, the country needs to draw about 10 million more tourists in the final four months, or an average of 2.5 million a month.

Analysts say expanding visa waivers, boosting cruise tourism, opening new air routes, supporting small travel firms and promoting premium products will be key to sustaining momentum.
