HCMC – Vietnam supports the humanitarian efforts of the United Nations (UN) secretary general, the UN agencies, countries and international partners, said Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, head of the permanent delegation of Vietnam to the UN. He added that Vietnam is always willing to contribute to the UN’s humanitarian aid in Ukraine within its capacity and conditions.
Speaking at an emergency session of the UN General Assembly on March 23, Giang reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent standpoint on solving international disputes via peaceful means based on international law, the UN Charter, and the principle of respecting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, not interfering with their internal issues and not using force in international relations.
He shared the international community’s deep concern over the humanitarian situation caused by the war in Ukraine and stressed that the current urgent priority should be to end the armed conflict, protect civilians and essential civilian infrastructure, deploy humanitarian activities and evacuate citizens.
Dialogues and negotiations between the relevant parties should be conducted to seek peaceful solutions based on international law, the UN Charter and the benefits of the relevant parties.
