HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today, October 4, underscored the pivotal role of the private sector in driving Vietnam’s economic growth, urging businesses to seize opportunities and contribute to the country’s development.

Speaking at a conference in Hanoi to mark the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, which falls on October 13, PM Chinh emphasized the achievements of Vietnamese businesses in the nation’s economy, acknowledging their key role in job creation, exports, and social welfare.

Vietnam currently has over 930,000 companies, 14,400 cooperatives, and more than five million business households, which collectively contribute about 60% to GDP, employ 85% of the workforce, and account for 98% of total exports and imports.

The PM stated Vietnamese businesses have not only bolstered the domestic market but also made a tangible impact on the global stage. Large-scale enterprises have been instrumental in driving the development of various industries and sectors and contributing to the growth of the national brand.

Representatives from various sectors, including oil and gas, telecommunications, and real estate, shared their insights on the current challenges and voiced recommendations for Vietnam’s economy.

PM Chinh outlined the Government’s plans to support local firms, focusing on six key areas, namely improving the business environment, developing infrastructure, enhancing human capital, protecting business rights, promoting innovation, and building a strong business community.

The Government leader also urged businesses to take the lead in driving economic reforms, promoting technology adoption, contributing to social welfare, and strengthening Vietnam’s global competitiveness.
