HCMC – The preference for homegrown goods among Vietnamese consumers has surged from 73% to over 85% in nearly 15 years, thanks to the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign.
At a workshop on Vietnamese brands organized by Saigon Giai Phong newspaper yesterday, June 27, experts highlighted that consumers are increasingly accessing a wide range of high-quality, reputable domestic goods with clear origins.
Nguyen Anh Duc, chairman of the Association of Vietnam Retailers, noted that around 80% of customers prefer products from companies meeting high-quality standards, 60% choose goods from trusted brands, and 39% opt for competitively priced products.
Notably, 50% of customers believe that Vietnamese enterprises are offering new varieties of goods and improving product quality, reflecting growing consumer trust and active pursuit of Vietnamese products.
A representative from the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that Vietnam’s retail market, currently valued at US$142 billion, is projected to reach US$350 billion by 2025.
The rapidly growing retail sector is expected to play a major role in boosting the country’s gross domestic product.
