HCMC – Vietnamese tourists continue to prioritize domestic and regional travel, focusing on short-haul and well-known destinations, shows a survey by the Outbox Company, a market research firm specializing in tourism.
The “Most Loved Ranking 2024” survey revealed a strong preference among Vietnamese travelers for local destinations, with many opting for short-haul and familiar trips both domestically and abroad.
Danang City topped the list of domestic destinations, chosen by 21.6% of respondents, far surpassing Hanoi and Dalat.
Southern locations such as Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Nha Trang, and Dalat are popular among travelers from HCMC, while northern tourists favor Sapa, Halong, and Ha Giang. The survey also highlighted a focus on leisure trips with shorter stays, with few new destinations gaining significant traction.
Vietnamese travelers are increasingly venturing abroad, with Japan emerging as the most popular international destination, selected by 36.1% of respondents. Japan’s strong appeal stems from its service quality, competitive costs, and cultural attractions.
China has also seen a resurgence in popularity, driven by growing interest since late 2023. Traditional regional hotspots like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong continue to attract Vietnamese tourists, maintaining their status as preferred international destinations.
