HCMC – Vietnam’s export value of wood and wooden products reached over US$8.1 billion by mid-July, a 23.3% increase compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary statistics.
Of this total, wooden products alone accounted for over US$5.5 billion.
The recovery of major export markets is cited as the main reason for Vietnam’s positive growth in wood and wooden product exports during the first half of the year.
The U.S. was Vietnam’s largest wooden export market, with product exports amounting to US$4.1 billion in revenue, up 24.5% year-on-year. China followed, with export revenue reaching US$1.05 billion, expanding by 49.3% compared to last year.
Nguyen Quoc Khanh, chairman of the HCMC Handicraft and Wood Industry Association (HAWA), emphasized the importance of keeping up with new trends in the U.S. market to ensure Vietnamese wooden products meet consumer preferences.
He also stated that the total wood export turnover this year could surpass the record of US$16 billion set in 2022, potentially rising to US$17.5 billion.
