HCMC – Vietnam has reported an agricultural, forestry and fishery products trade surplus of US$11.8 billion in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 68.4%.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the total export revenue from these items in January-August had grown by 18.6% against the year-ago period to US$40.08 billion.
Breaking it down, the export value of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products has picked up by 24%, 10.97%, and 19.7%, respectively. Key export items such as wooden products, coffee, and rice have registered respective increases of 20.6%, 36.1% and 21.7%.
In August alone, export revenue of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products has amounted to US$5.55 billion, up by 12.3% over the same period last year.
The U.S., China and Japan remain Vietnam’s top buyers of such commodities. Exports to the U.S. increased by 23.5%, to China by 10.2%, and to Japan by 4.6%.
