Avatar Vasada, Vietnam’s first organization dedicated to coastal ecosystem conservation, spearheads efforts to restore the country’s fragile marine environment.

Founded in 2023, the Nha Trang-based initiative focuses on regenerating coral reefs and promoting sustainable marine ecosystems.

The organization aims to plant 50 million coral fragments and restore thousands of square meters of reef along Bai Tien Beach. To date, Avatar Vasada has rehabilitated 2,100 square meters of coral within the Avatar Coral Garden, established a 2,000-square-meter coral nursery, and created a 5,100-square-meter artificial reef.

Plans for the next phase include regenerating 50,000 square meters of coral reef, cultivating 1,000 square meters of seagrass, and planting 1,000 mangrove trees.

Coral reefs, vital to global food security and marine biodiversity, are threatened by climate change, pollution, overfishing, and unsustainable tourism.
