HCMC – The National Assembly (NA) is expected to have the Ethnic Council and seven committees after its restructuring, heard at the NA Standing Committee’s session this afternoon, February 2.
The committee today reviewed the draft law amending the Law on Organization of the NA, along with draft resolutions on the structure of its specialized agencies, the number of members in the 15th NA Standing Committee (amended), and the functions, duties, and organization of specialized agencies.
Regarding the number, structure, and regulatory approach for the NA’s specialized agencies, Hoang Thanh Tung, chairman of the NA’s Committee on Legal Affairs, said that the majority agreed on drafting a resolution on their organizational structure.
Under the proposed restructuring plan, the legislature’s specialized agencies will include the Ethnic Council; the Committee on Legal and Judicial Affairs; the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs; the Committee on Cultural and Social Affairs; the Committee on National Defense, Security, and Foreign Affairs; the Committee on Science, Technology, and Environment; the Committee on Petitions and Oversight; and the Committee on NA Deputies’ Affairs.
After the restructuring, the number of the NA’s committees will be reduced by four through mergers. Additionally, two committees under the NA Standing Committee will be elevated to the NA’s committees.
