HCMC – Party General Secretary To Lam held a brief meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow on May 10 as part of his official visit to Russia and attendance at the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War.
This marks the first meeting between Party General Secretary To Lam and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
Following the closed-door meeting, the two leaders headed high-level talks between the two delegations and witnessed the signing of important agreements marking a new phase in bilateral cooperation.
Lam’s visit to Russia marks a major step forward in bilateral relations, reaffirming the two countries’ long-term commitment based on a strong foundation of historical ties.
“We consider Party General Secretary To Lam’s visit to Russia a key event in this year’s highest-level bilateral engagements. Notably, it takes place as our two countries are commemorating important and memorable milestones in our shared history,” said Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko.
Also on May 10, Party General Secretary To Lam met with Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Russian State Duma.

Both sides agreed on the need to further strengthen cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma by maintaining regular high-level exchanges, enhancing the sharing of legislative experience, and improving the legal framework to facilitate expanded bilateral cooperation.
They emphasized the crucial role of the two parliaments in supporting efforts to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, energy, education and training, people-to-people exchanges, and partnerships between localities.
