HCMC – Vietnam’s State President Luong Cuong, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Vientiane this afternoon, April 24, starting a two-day state visit to Laos.
The trip is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President Thongloun Sisoulith.
This is President Luong Cuong’s first state visit to Laos.
He is scheduled to hold talks with Thongloun Sisoulith, and witness the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements.
He will meet with the Lao Prime Minister, the President of the Lao National Assembly, as well as former Lao leaders.
Vietnam and Laos established diplomatic relations on September 5, 1962.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Laos reached over US$980 million in the first three months of 2025, up 105.5% year-on-year. Both countries are working toward raising two-way trade to US$5 billion within the next two to three years.
