HCMC – Vietnam’s rice exports had amounted to 4.8 million tons in the year to mid-July, generating over US$3.06 billion.
This was a 7.9% increase in volume and a 28.26% rise in value compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Vietnam Food Association.
Rice exports in the first half of July totaled 290,035 tons, valued at US$177.6 million. Although there was a 15.89% decrease in volume over the same period last year, the value saw a significant increase of 30.5%.
In the first six months of 2024, Vietnam remained the largest rice exporter to Singapore, capturing a 32.69% market share. The export value to Singapore rose by 54.67% to 73.40 million Singapore dollars versus the same period in 2023.
Vietnam leads in three rice segments in Singapore: white rice with a 48.62% market share, fragrant milled or husked rice at 69.43%, and glutinous rice at 78.05%.
