Vinamilk’s long-term commitment to children and the community

For nearly two decades, Vinamilk has persistently carried out one of the longest-running corporate social responsibility programs in Vietnam. Through the Stand Tall Vietnam Milk Fund, launched in 2008, the company has donated nearly 43 million packs of milk to around 550,000 disadvantaged children across the country, making it a pioneer in sustained CSR efforts among Vietnamese enterprises.

This year, as part of celebrations for International Children’s Day, Vinamilk continued its mission by donating 70,000 packs of fresh milk to children in provinces such as Phu Tho and Ben Tre. These efforts were carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Health, the Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights in Vietnam, and other organizations that work to bring care and support to children nationwide.

At a ceremony in Phu Tho on May 31 marking the launch of Action Month for Children, Vinamilk and its milk fund contributed 41,000 milk packs, worth VND300 million, to support child nutrition in the province. On the same day, in Ben Tre, the company supported the Lighting Up Dreams program, which included gift-giving and milk donations to nearly 400 children and 100 individuals from families with war veteran backgrounds or economic hardship. Vinamilk representatives also visited the SOS Children’s Village in Ben Tre, where they spent time with children living and studying there.

The company’s outreach extended beyond these provinces. In cities and provinces like Hanoi, HCMC, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, and Bac Kan, Vinamilk distributed tens of thousands more milk packs to children in need. Earlier, in April, the company donated 500,000 packs of milk to 11,000 disadvantaged children in locations from Lang Son and Son La to Quang Nam and Binh Dinh.

In HCMC alone, about 2,000 children from shelters, social centers, and schools in suburban areas like Cu Chi and Hoc Mon received nearly 100,000 nutritional products. These are places of special meaning for Vinamilk, as they mark the beginning of the company’s dairy journey more than 30 years ago.

“The milk we donate not only provides essential nutrition but also serves as a source of encouragement for the children to study hard and grow up to contribute positively to society,” said Do Thanh Tuan, Vinamilk’s Director of External Relations.

Beyond its long-standing milk donation program, Vinamilk regularly supports broader community needs. In April—during the national observance of the South’s liberation—the company delivered over 630,000 nutritional products, worth nearly VND5 billion, to students, workers, veterans, and others in vulnerable situations.

When Typhoon Yagi struck northern Vietnam in September 2024, Vinamilk responded swiftly with an emergency donation of 1.2 million nutritional products, valued at VND6 billion, to support schoolchildren in affected areas. To enhance community involvement, Vinamilk launched a matching campaign that encouraged employees and customers to order milk products through a dedicated website. For every order, Vinamilk matched the donation, doubling its impact. In just over two weeks, more than 7,100 orders were placed, exceeding the initial VND3 billion fundraising goal.

Alongside these community efforts, Vinamilk has also turned its attention to sustainability and environmental protection. In June 2024, it launched the “Rebirth of Lovely Cartons” campaign to encourage recycling. Children are now taught to rinse, fold, and bring their used milk cartons to Vinamilk stores in exchange for small gifts. This program has already collected nearly 200,000 cartons, equal to 1.5 tons of material, in Hanoi and HCMC.

This initiative is part of Vinamilk’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes a net-zero emissions goal by 2050. By empowering consumers—especially children—to engage in waste separation and recycling, the company is laying the foundation for a more circular economy and encouraging lasting behavioral change.

From long-standing support for child nutrition to rapid disaster response and environmental innovation, Vinamilk continues to shape its corporate identity around meaningful, sustained contributions to Vietnamese society.
