VinFast starts work on US$200-million EV plant in Indonesia

HCMC – VinFast has commenced work on an electric vehicle (EV) assembly factory in Indonesia, at an estimated cost of around US$200 million.

Located in Subang, a major industrial city in Indonesia, the future VinFast Automobile Indonedia plant will be able to turn out 50,000 units per year. The facility will feature main workshops for body shell construction, assembly, painting, and testing.

The plant is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the fourth quarter of next year and will manufacture various EV models, including the VF3, VF5, VF6, and VF7, with right-hand drive versions for the Indonesian market.

Recently, VinFast has promoted its business activities and enhanced brand recognition in Indonesia. This includes launching two SUV models, the VF5 and VF e34, and inaugurating various outlets alongside special battery leasing policies.

The construction of the EV assembly plant in one of the most promising ASEAN markets is expected to create numerous job opportunities for local residents. This move underscores VinFast’s commitment to expanding its regional market presence and enhancing the local EV industry.
