Vingroup’s Giving Spirit: A Journey from Heart to Action

In daily life, many people suffer from traffic accidents or strokes without receiving timely first aid on the spot, and by the time they reach the hospital, it could be too late to save their lives. Recognizing this reality, the Kind Heart Foundation, representing Vingroup, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health to implement the “National Pre-hospital Emergency Care Project,” with a total investment of VND1 trillion.

The Kind Heart Foundation is a non-profit organization founded and funded by Vingroup to carry out charitable activities. The foundation’s name reflects its mission of doing good from the heart and with compassion. Since its establishment in 2006, the foundation has carried out numerous initiatives to promote social development. To date, it has contributed tens of trillions of Vietnamese dong to community support efforts, reaching millions of people across the country through its charity programs.

VND1,000 billion for National Pre-hospital Emergency Project

On March 21, 2025, the Kind Heart Foundation signed an MoU with the Ministry of Health to implement the National Pre-hospital Emergency Care Project. Simultaneously, pilot cooperation MoUs were signed with four localities: Haiphong, Ha Tinh, Khanh Hoa, and Kien Giang. Vingroup committed up to VND1,000 billion to support the program, aiming to help the healthcare sector build an internationally standardized emergency care system.

This national-level flagship project seeks to build a modern, synchronized pre-hospital emergency system to improve emergency healthcare services and enhance access to emergency care for people nationwide.

As part of the initiative, Vingroup will support a range of activities alongside the Ministry of Health and localities, including upgrading emergency equipment, ambulances, and training medical staff, first responders, and communities in first aid techniques. It will also fund training-related equipment.

The group is also considering investing in automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be installed at critical public locations such as train stations, ports, airports, and schools, boosting survival chances in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.

Moreover, Vingroup will help develop communication and coordination systems for emergency responses, enabling faster connections between emergency units and hospitals.

At the launch event, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan emphasized that pre-hospital emergency care is a crucial task for the health sector. Nguyen Viet Quang, vice chairman and CEO of Vingroup, affirmed the group’s strong commitment to social responsibility and its desire to work with the Ministry and localities to enhance emergency care services. He expressed confidence that investing in an advanced emergency system will ensure rapid and effective medical services, reducing risks and improving public health care.

Every year in Vietnam, about 1.2 million injuries occur, with over 10,000 deaths or long-term disabilities due to delayed emergency care. The need to improve pre-hospital emergency capabilities—especially among frontline forces and armed personnel—is more urgent than ever in the face of large-scale disasters and disease outbreaks.

Vingroup’s partnership with the Ministry of Health to implement this project marks a significant step forward in emergency healthcare strategy, offering new hope for survival and safety to millions in the future.

Scholarships for students nationwide

Scholarship donation is one of the Kind Heart Foundation’s annual activities. For the 2024–2025 academic year, the foundation awarded 9,300 scholarships to disadvantaged but academically excellent students across Vietnam. The first provinces reached by the Vingroup Scholarship Program included Lang Son, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Hue, Danang, Binh Dinh, Soc Trang, and Kien Giang.

Primary and secondary school students each receive a scholarship worth VND6.3 million per year, equivalent to VND700,000 per month over nine months. Support is transferred quarterly to help with school-related expenses. University, college, and vocational school students are supported with tuition up to VND20 million per year, disbursed by semester.

A unique feature of this program is that the foundation reviews each student’s academic performance and family circumstances annually to determine continued support, ensuring long-term accompaniment in their educational journey.

Launched in 2012, the Vingroup Scholarship aims to nurture talent and support the younger generation. Over the past 12 years, the program has granted nearly 67,000 scholarships to outstanding students in difficult circumstances.

Free surgery for children with congenital defects in remote areas

Eighty children with congenital disabilities in mountainous Yen Bai Province have seen their lives transformed after receiving free surgery funded by the Kind Heart Foundation in 2024.

With support covering travel, accommodation, and medical expenses, hundreds of children from remote villages in Yen Bai had the chance to undergo screening at the provincial general hospital. They were examined by top specialists from major national hospitals such as Bach Mai, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, and the National Eye Hospital.

After assessing each child’s condition, 80 children from disadvantaged backgrounds were selected for immediate surgery. These cases primarily involved limb deformities, spinal curvature, cleft lips and palates, or severe burn scars. For many in remote areas, being treated by top doctors free of charge was a rare and life-changing opportunity.

The 2024 free surgery program also brought medical support to hundreds of children in Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lang Son, and Ha Tinh. This initiative served as both practical aid and a heartfelt message of encouragement to these young children, giving them the strength to overcome illness and integrate into society.

Support for victims of Typhoon Yagi

In addition to its regular charitable activities, the Kind Heart Foundation is always ready to assist disaster-struck communities. A notable example is its relief efforts for victims of Typhoon Yagi in late 2024.

Yagi was the most powerful storm to hit Vietnam last year, causing severe damage across northern provinces. In September 2024, Vingroup and its subsidiaries pledged VND250 billion to support those affected by the typhoon and subsequent floods.

The funds were directly used for emergency relief, including rebuilding approximately 2,000 collapsed homes and providing VND150–300 million in aid to families who lost loved ones. Funds also contributed to restoring essential infrastructure and public utilities to help residents quickly get back to normal life.

The donations were sourced from both the corporation and voluntary contributions from over 130,000 Vingroup employees nationwide. Part of the funds also supported injured individuals and those who lost livestock or crops, as well as helped clean up and rebuild vital community infrastructure.

In addition to VND250 billion in aid, Vingroup called on its workforce to volunteer their time with the Kind Heart Foundation to support affected communities.

Furthermore, under the “Nurturing Kind Hearts” charity program last September, the foundation also funded the reconstruction of a boarding school dormitory for 500 students of Bat Xat Secondary and High School in Lao Cai Province, which was completely destroyed by the storm.

Following the collapse, students were temporarily housed in a village cultural center and a local preschool facility. The Kind Heart Foundation coordinated with local authorities to rebuild the dormitory using funds from the “Nurturing Kind Hearts” program, which ran from September 19 to 30, 2024.

A brand-new five-story building with 30 rooms was constructed, allowing students to return to on-campus learning and living.
