HCMC – The north-central province of Nghe An has recently greenlit a VND233.6-billion project to upgrade and expand Vinh International Airport.
Invested by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the project will widen the aircraft parking area to increase the number of Code C parking slots from six to nine.
The project is scheduled to be completed within 12 months.
Constructed in 2003, Vinh airport’s runway is only 2,400 meters long and primarily serves aircraft like Airbus A320s and A321s with restricted loads. The airport is unable to support larger ones like Airbus A350 and Boeing B777/B787, limiting its potential for international routes.
The airport is designed to cater to up to eight million passengers annually, according to the 2021-2030 airport system development plan.
