HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long has approved an environmental impact assessment report on sand mining along the Hau River, which will be used for the Can Tho-Ca Mau expressway project.
Covering 20.81 hectares in Tra On District, the sand mine has total reserves of over 560,000 cubic meters.
The sand will be used exclusively for key infrastructure projects, including the Can Tho-Hau Giang and Hau Giang-Ca Mau sections of the expressway.
Sand mining will be done in two phases, with the first phase involving the extraction of around 450,000 cubic meters and the second phase, dependent on the outcome of the initial phase, will extract an extra 600,000 cubic meters.
