HCMC – Cash flows surged across multiple sectors, notably in securities stocks, leading the VN-Index to rise to an all-time high today, July 25.
With 207 gainers and 126 decliners, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 10.11 points, or 0.66%, against the previous session to close at 1,531.13 points.
More than 1.45 billion shares worth VND37.4 trillion changed hands, slightly down in volume but marginally up in value compared to yesterday’s session. Block deal transactions contributed 84.7 million shares, valued at VND2.6 trillion.
The VN30 basket ended the session up more than 8 points, driven mainly by VJC hitting its ceiling price at VND121,900 and a strong rally from brokerage stock SSI, which surged 6.3% to VND34,000. SSI also led the market by liquidity, with over 62.1 million shares traded.
VIX hit its daily ceiling price, with nearly 35.3 million shares traded and a ceiling bid surplus of over 9.8 million shares. Meanwhile, VND closed at the upper limit of VND21,150.
VIC remained the main drag on the market. At the close, it fell 1.6% to VND114,100, wiping out more than 1.7 points from the benchmark index.
On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index rose by 3.89 points, or 1.55%, day-on-day, to 254.56 points, with 109 winners and 82 losers. Total matched volume exceeded 168.1 million shares worth a total of VND3.2 trillion.
Brokerage stocks on the HNX bourse edged up strongly, with SHS climbing 4.5% on trading volume of over 45.7 million shares, while MBS surged 6.7% to its session high of VND32,000 per share, with 13.82 million shares matched.
