VN-Index rises on gains of bluechips

HCMC – The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange rose 0.56% today, November 5, on gains of bluechips, especially fertilizer stocks.

The benchmark index added 8.17 points to close at 1,456.51. The southern bourse saw winning stocks far outnumber losing ones by 303 to 148.

There were more than 874 million shares worth some VND26.1 trillion changing hands, falling 5.97% in volume and 6.21% in value compared with the previous session. More than 29.57 million shares worth some VND1.33 trillion were traded in block deals.

In the VN30 basket, 17 stocks gained ground. Fuel distributor GAS was the biggest gainer, soaring 4.5% to VND122,400, followed by petroleum stock PLX, which rose 2.3% to VND53,900.

Real estate stocks including KDH, PDR and NVL rose over 1%. GVR, FPT, MWG, VNM, BVH and HPG increased slightly.

Fertilizer stocks stole the limelight, with DPM, DCM and BFC shooting up to the ceiling prices. Besides, TSC rose over 2% and DGC surged 4.3%.

Real estate and construction stocks were also the major contributors. VGC shot up to the ceiling price, while BCG, HU1 and UDC surged over 5%, HBC added 4.8% and TCH rose 2.8%.

Securities stocks were mixed, with VND, CTS, VIX, HCM and VDS inching up, while VCI, FTS, AGR and TVS dipped into the red.

Steel stocks recovered slightly, up by approximately 1%. HSG rose 1.4% to VND46,450 and HPG added 0.5% to end at VND56,600.

Among bank stocks, SHB was the best performer, surging 3.28% to VND31,500 with more than 45.43 million shares changing hands. CTG, LPB and STB increased slightly.

In the group of speculative stocks, HAG shot up to the ceiling price at VND5,740 and had more than 33 million shares traded. Other major gainers in the group were ROS, HQC, FLC, HNG, ITA and DXG.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 1.24%, or 5.22 points, to end at 427.64 points. Gaining stocks outnumbered decliners by 132 to 100. There were over 145 million shares worth some VND3.44 trillion transacted.

In the HNX30 basket, rice trader TAR shot up to the ceiling price at VND39,400 and industrial development firm IDC surged 8.2% to VND86,700. In addition, NRC, LAS and TNG surged over 6%.

In contrast, construction firm VC3 suffered the steepest decline, down 2.4% to VND41,500.

Fertilizer and chemical stocks were the best performers, with PMB and PSW shooting up to the ceiling prices. Besides, LAS, PCE and NFC surged 6.2%, 8.1% and 4.7%, respectively.

Trading and service firm KLF led the northern bourse in terms of liquidity with some 14.5 million shares changing hands.
