HCMC – The HCMC Department of Transport has recently submitted a pre-feasibility study for a VND11.1-trillion project to build a bridge over the Soai Rap River, connecting Nha Be and Can Gio districts.
The project comprises a three-kilometer bridge and approach roads. The bridge, called Can Gio, will have six lanes and allow for a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
The State budget will provide VND5,246 billion for the bridge project.
According to a Department of Transport plan, compensation and resettlement for households affected by the project will last from 2024 to 2025.
Under the public-private partnership (PPP) format, construction of the Can Gio Bridge project will commence in 2025, with an expected completion date in 2028. Toll collection will continue until 2051.
The Can Gio Bridge is expected to significantly enhance transportation capacity and promote socio-economic development in the southeastern area of the city.
