HCMC – The Government has submitted a proposal to the legislature, seeking approval for a VND43.7-trillion expressway connecting Quy Nhon City of Binh Dinh Province and Pleiku City of Gia Lai Province.

As part of the nation’s provincial merger plan, Binh Dinh Province will be merged into Gia Lai Province. Therefore, the proposed expressway would improve connectivity among localities within the expanded Gia Lai Province.

According to the pre-feasibility study, the Quy Nhon-Pleiku Expressway will be around 125 kilometers long, featuring four traffic lanes and two emergency stopping lanes. Its speed limit is 100 kilometers per hour.

Under this plan, the project is estimated to cost around VND43.7 trillion, with funding from the state budget, including revenue increases and spending savings in 2024, as well as central and local budget allocations for the 2021-2025 and 2026-2030 periods.

It is expected to be split into two components, with the Binh Dinh section (Component 1) managed by the Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee and the Gia Lai section (Component 2) overseen by the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee.

The project is scheduled to start in 2025 and be completed by 2029, pending approval from the National Assembly.
