HCMC – Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC) and French pharmaceutical company Sanofi have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in vaccine production in Vietnam, reported the local media reports.

The signing of the deal at Sanofi’s headquarters in Paris on October 8 was witnessed by Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnam’s Ambassador to France and former Vietnamese Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien.

Under the partnership, Sanofi will transfer vaccine production technology to VNVC, enabling the private Vietnamese company to produce several types of vaccine at its facility in Vietnam.

Tien said that this agreement marks a significant milestone, being the first of its kind for a private Vietnamese company, and plays a crucial role in advancing Vietnam’s goal of achieving vaccine self-sufficiency.

Sanofi will provide VNVC with expertise in biotechnology, supporting the establishment of local vaccine production to improve access and ensure a stable, cost-effective supply of vaccines in Vietnam.

Sanofi, which has been operational in Vietnam for 71 years, has contributed to the country’s healthcare sector through research, drug supply, and human resource development. VNVC also aims to explore further opportunities for vaccine production and technology transfer through this partnership.
