Wing dented as Eva Air jetliner hits light pole at Vietnam airport

HCMC – An aircraft of Taiwanese carrier Eva Air hit a light pole at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC yesterday afternoon while it was preparing for take-off but mistakenly rolling onto an apron, resulting in a dent on its left wing.

The incident occurred at 4:04 p.m. on July 3, according to the authority of Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Eva Air’s Boeing 777 with flight number BR396, scheduled to leave Tan Son Nhat for Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan, was taxiing to the runway when it struck and took down the light pole.

All the passengers aboard the aircraft were safe after the collision. The incident did not affect the airport’s operations, said a representative of the airport.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport, along with relevant units, swiftly coordinated to handle the incident. The incident is under investigation.
