HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has started work on two critical sections of Ho Chi Minh Road in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
The groundbreaking ceremony of Rach Soi-Ben Nhat and Go Quao-Vinh Thuan sections of Ho Chi Minh Road was held on March 6.
Managed by the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board, the two sections have a total length of 52km and require total investment capital of over VND3,904 billion.
Rach Soi-Ben Nhat is 11 kilometers long and runs through Chau Thanh and Giong Rieng districts in Kien Giang Province, while the other section, spanning almost 41 kilometers, passes through Go Quao and Vinh Thuan districts.
Upon completion, these sections will be upgraded with four lanes, allowing for a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
Nguyen Duy Lam, deputy minister of transport, emphasized the significance of the project during the groundbreaking ceremony, highlighting its potential to stimulate socio-economic growth, enhance investment attraction, and promote urban revitalization in the region.
