HCMC – Vingroup will begin work on the Can Gio seafront land reclamation and urban development project in HCMC on April 19, according to a notice from its subsidiary Can Gio Tourism Urban JSC.

The project covers a total of 2,870 hectares in the outlying district of Can Gio, HCMC, and needs a total of over VND217 trillion, with nearly VND33 trillion in equity.

The project has a planned operational lifespan of 50 years and is expected to be implemented over a period of 11 years.

According to HCMC’s master plan for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, Can Gio District will be developed into an ecological urban area that preserves the biosphere reserve while focusing on developing the maritime economy, particularly a transshipment port and free trade zone, as well as logistics, tourism, coastal eco-urban development, and renewable energy.

The city is also seeking investment in the planned Can Gio International Transshipment Port project, which is expected to require around US$6 billion in funding.
