HCMC – Work on the Cat Lai Bridge is scheduled to start next year and be completed within two years, improving connectivity to the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport.
Ho Van Ha, vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee, disclosed the information in a meeting with Construction Corporation No. 1 (CC1) on investment plans for the Cat Lai Bridge project, which will replace the Cat Lai ferry.
The province targets completion and operation by 2028, and has asked relevant agencies to finalize project documents for submission to the provincial People’s Council for investment approval.
CC1 said the development will cover more than 11.6 kilometers, including the 4.7-kilometer Cat Lai Bridge with an estimated cost of VND18 trillion.
The bridge will start on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, about 400 meters from the My Thuy interchange, and end at the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway. It is designed for a speed of 80 kilometers per hour, with a width of 33.5 meters, eight lanes, and a clearance height of over 55 meters.
In addition to the Cat Lai Bridge, CC1 also proposed investing in the 11.7-kilometer Long Hung Bridge (Dong Nai 2), which would connect HCMC’s Beltway No. 3 in Long Phuoc Ward across the Dong Nai River to An Phuoc Commune in Dong Nai Province, with an estimated cost of nearly VND11 trillion.
