HCMC – Work on an expressway connecting Dau Giay and Tan Phu in Dong Nai Province is set to commence by the end of this year, which will make it shorter and faster to travel between HCMC and the hilly resort city of Dalat.
The government of Dong Nai Province held a meeting on August 12 with the Thang Long Project Management Unit to discuss the implementation of the first phase of the VND9-trillion expressway project.
The 61-kilometer Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway will connect the end of the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway and the intersection with National Highway 20.
This expressway will link with the planned 66-kilometer Tan Phu-Bao Loc Expressway and feature four lanes with a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
Once completed, the expressway will help improve transportation, alleviate congestion on the narrow National Highway 20 and contribute to socio-economic development in Dong Nai Province and the southeastern region of Vietnam.
Major components of the expressway are expected to be completed by 2026 before the expressway is opened to traffic by 2027.
According to the Thang Long Project Management Unit, the project requires the acquisition of nearly 380 hectares of land across four districts in Dong Nai: Thong Nhat, Dinh Quan, Xuan Loc, and Tan Phu. The cost for land clearance compensation and resettlement is estimated to exceed VND1,450 billion.
Nguyen Thi Hoang, vice chairwoman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee, urged all relevant units to expedite the completion of data collection related to land clearance.
She also called on local authorities to review and align their plans to ensure consistency during the project’s implementation. Hoang emphasized the importance of strengthening construction management to prevent illegal activities within the project area.
