HCMC – The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) will commence work on the HCMC-Long Thanh Expressway expansion project on August 19, widening it from four lanes to eight to 10 lanes.
The VND14.9-trillion project is expected to be completed in December 2026, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
According to the approved plan, the expressway will be widened on both sides of the existing route.
Specifically, the 4.8-kilometer section from the Beltway No. 2 interchange to the Beltway No. 3 interchange will be widened from four to eight lanes.
The 14.7-kilometer stretch from the Beltway No. 3 interchange to the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway will be expanded from 4-10 lanes. At the Long Thanh Bridge, a new five-lane bridge will be built on the right side of the existing bridge, carrying traffic from HCMC to Long Thanh.
The project is being carried out as emergency construction work. For the Long Thanh Bridge, the main span is scheduled to be joined in December 2026, with all components to be fully completed by March 2027.
