HCMC – The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) is urgently finalizing all necessary procedures so that it can begin work on a project on August 19 to widen the HCMC-Long Thanh Expressway, according to the Government news site.
VEC has so far appointed three consulting firms to carry out surveys, prepare the feasibility study, and stake out the land for site clearance.
The feasibility study has been finalized and submitted for evaluation, with approval anticipated between July 15 and 20.
At the same time, the consultation and appraisal procedures for the environmental impact assessment are underway at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
According to Dang Hoai Nam, deputy general director of VEC, the Government Office issued Document No. 5889 on June 26, essentially approving the project to proceed under emergency procedures.
VEC and the Ministry of Finance are now working to further clarify the project’s urgency, its socio-economic significance, and the implementation roadmap.
Regarding land acquisition, under the investment policy, site clearance will be carried out as separate sub-projects managed by the People’s Committees of HCMC and Dong Nai Province.
Once the feasibility study is approved, VEC will hand over site markers to local authorities to proceed with the next steps and has committed to providing sufficient and timely funding for land clearance in line with the project timeline.
