HCMC – Construction has begun on the first crushed stone base layer for a two-kilometer section of the Chau Doc–Can Tho–Soc Trang Expressway in An Giang Province, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The section runs from the National Highway 91 interchange, connecting the N1 and N2 branches, to kilometer marker 2+00. The work marks a key step after months of land clearance and soft soil treatment.

Contractor Truong Son Construction Corporation plans to complete four layers of crushed stone by November 20 and start asphalt paving by November 25. The company aims to open the two-kilometer stretch and the N1 and N2 connecting branches to traffic on December 19.

Other sections under Truong Son’s responsibility, totaling about 17 kilometers, will be temporarily opened on the crushed stone base.

The first phase of the Chau Doc–Can Tho–Soc Trang Expressway covers more than 188 kilometers through An Giang Province and Can Tho City. The 57-kilometer section in An Giang has a total investment of over VND13.5 trillion and includes four construction packages.

As of October 9, overall construction progress of the four main packages reached 61.53%, slightly ahead of schedule. Contractors are also carrying out sand filling, roadbed compaction, soft soil treatment, and production of concrete barriers and wire fences.
