HCMC – Work on the La Son-Hoa Lien Expressway expansion project, which links Danang and Hue, began on the morning of May 29 with an investment of over VND3 trillion, reported the Government news site.

The La Son-Hoa Lien Expressway expansion will stretch about 65 kilometers, passing through Phu Loc District and Hue City in Thua Thien-Hue Province, and Hoa Vang District in Danang City.

The project, funded by the state budget with an investment of around VND3.01 trillion, is expected to be completed within one year. The expanded road will have four lanes, be 22 meters wide, and support speeds of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour.

The investor will also build or expand 50 bridges along the route to accommodate the four-lane expressway.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh called on the cities of Hue and Danang to speed up land clearance, arrange resettlement promptly, support the licensing of material mines and waste disposal sites, and ensure security and traffic safety during construction.

As part of the 2020-2030 socio-economic development strategy, many major transport projects have been invested in and upgraded, especially the expressway network, to better connect economic regions and boost both domestic and international trade, he said.

Vietnam currently has 2,268 kilometers of expressway in operation, with plans to expand the network to about 3,000 kilometers by the end of 2025 and around 5,000 kilometers by 2050.
