HCMC – The Central Highlands province of Daklak has broken ground on a 10-hectare fruit processing facility, the largest of its kind in the province.
Chanh Thu Fruit Import-Export Group JSC is the investor of the VND480-billion project, which is located in Ea Drong Commune in Cu M’gar District, the local media reported.
When in place after 18 months of construction, the 70,000 tons/year plant will focus on packaging fresh fruits and processing and freezing fruits for export to the United States, China and Japan.
The firm will also research and produce various processed products from Vietnamese farm produce for export to other markets, said Ngo Tuong Vy, general director of Chanh Thu Group.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony today, March 10, Nguyen Tuan Ha, vice chairman of Daklak, said that the project was expected to contribute to pushing up the value of Daklak’s farm produce and boosting the province’s economic growth.
