HCMC – Lam Dong Province will break ground on the 66-kilometer Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway project worth more than VND18 trillion on December 19.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the interchange with DT.721 road in Da Huoai Commune, Lam Dong Province.
According to Lam Dong’s Project Management Board No. 1, the prime ninister approved the investment policy for the expressway in November 2022. The provincial People’s Committee approved the project and related adjustments in 2025.
The expressway will have a total length of about 65.88 kilometers. Around 11.91 kilometers will run through Dong Nai Province, while the remaining 53.97 kilometers will pass through Lam Dong. The route will start at the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway in Dong Nai, and end in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong.
The road will be built to expressway standards with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. In the completed phase, it will have four lanes and a roadbed width of 22 meters. In the initial phase, the roadbed will be 17 meters wide, with full facilities to ensure traffic safety and long-term operation.
Total investment for the initial phase is estimated at VND18 trillion. Of this, about VND6.5 trillion, or more than 36%, will come from the state budget, including central and local funds. The remaining VND11.5 trillion will be mobilized by the investor.
The project will be implemented under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract, with a toll collection period of about 23 years and nine months. Son Hai Group Co., Ltd. won the bid, with an investment value of around VND14.475 trillion, excluding land clearance costs.
Authorities have completed the placement of boundary markers and the handover of land clearance boundaries along the route in both Dong Nai and Lam Dong. Local governments are accelerating compensation, support, and land acquisition to hand over cleared land to the investor for construction.
The project is scheduled for implementation during 2022–2027, with completion and operation targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027.
Once completed, the Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway is expected to shorten travel time between Lam Dong and HCMC and the southern key economic region, ease pressure on National Highway 20, and support economic development, tourism, and logistics in the Central Highlands.
